WILLOW PARK — according to the East Parker Chamber of Commerce:
the Brookshire's Food & Pharmacy at 5118 East I-20 Service Road South in Willow Park, Texas, has undergone a major renovation and will begin a grand reopening celebration on Wednesday, December 7. A ribbon-cutting event will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, and the public is invited to attend. however, on Saturday, December 3, the first 500 customers will receive free groceries and a $25 coupon booklet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Work to the 50,600-sqare-foot store began in May and touched nearly every area of the supermarket, according to Store Director Michael Caldwell. the most noticeable change perhaps is the refurbished storefront with new logo signage and building exterior painted in earth tones. also, new glass doors were installed at the front. Floor tile was removed throughout the interior, and the concrete was buffed and polished. Workers painted and affixed new decor and signage in nearly every department. It now has an open ceiling with new paint. Three self-checkout lanes are now featured. more energy-efficient lights and Wi-Fi were installed. Caldwell said new buggies await customers, as well. the most convenient addition is probably the enlarged, relocated pharmacy with a drive-through window for quick and easy prescription drop-off and pick-up. the pharmacy operates at extended hours now and will open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. on Sunday it will also operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the phone number is 817-441-5982. the pharmacy has low prices on generic prescriptions and will offer a $10 discount on groceries when customers bring in a new or transferred prescription during the grand reopening. the relocated and expanded bakery offers a case stocked with specialty cakes, Yums gourmet cupcakes, fresh homemade-style fudge and a tortilla machine continuously turning out fresh tortillas. Cake decorators prepare birthday, wedding, portrait, and other special order cakes. In the deli, Boars Head meats and cheeses are now sold, and a new seating area awaits shoppers who want to dine in. there is also a new fresh sushi bar, along with a new sandwich and salad bar. the hot food cases have been expanded. the produce department is practically new after being relocated and receiving new bins, cases, racks, misting systems, tables and more. It offers about 30 new items. the market offers a full-service fresh meat and seafood counter with meat cut fresh daily. Caldwell noted the addition of Brookshire's Best meats. Caldwell staffs a florist and the floral department features a new fresh-cut flower case on the front end of the store. the wine selection has been expanded. the store office provides check cashing and Western Union services, among others. From December 7-9 several product demos will be held and feature everything from cornbread dressing to cheeses. on December 10, a Taste of Brookshire's sampling event is planned to showcase numerous holiday and seasonal products ranging from appetizers and beverages to the main course. Caldwell said the store has hired about 20 additional employees through the remodel. Store hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
